"I've taught history, political science, and British and American literature over several decades, largely in the greater Baltimore and Washington, DC, areas, but also on the international stage in London and Vienna. Much of my experience has been in small groups, and I feel that I often have my greatest success one on one so that I can address the learning concerns and styles of my students more directly. More than one student has told me that I am "a good coach."

I enjoy seeing the sense of achievement that a student receives from realizing that she or he has the ability to overcome challenge and to increase the range of "the possible." This has been one of the chief satisfactions I have derived from tutoring, and I am eager to continue pursuing that goal.

In addition to being familiar with a wide variety of content, I am a veteran teacher of a range of Advanced Placement history courses, and have been an Exam Reader/Grader for the AP European History Exam for decades. I have also served as a writer for multiple choice question items in the redesigned format for nearly ten years. Thus, I am easily at home with the redesigned format for both AP European, and AP United States History Exams.
