"Hi, I'm Shelby! With a degree in Elementary Education and 11 years of hands-on experience in the classroom, I am committed to helping students thrive academically. As a Kindergartener I immediately knew I wanted to be an educator. I was in awe of my teacher and thought she was magical how she made letters and numbers come to life. I hope to bring the same wonder and awe to my own students. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of teaching students of all ages and backgrounds, and my passion for education has been recognized by earning Teacher of the Year honors twice in two different districts. I have elementary experience in 2nd grade (all subjects), 3rd grade (all subjects), and 5th grade mathematics, with varying learning scenarios from whole class, to small group, to one-on-one.

I understand that every student is unique, which is why I tailor my tutoring approach to meet individual learning styles and needs. Whether it's hands-on activities for kinesthetic learners, visual aids for visual learners, or interactive discussions for those who learn best through dialogue, I am equipped to support a variety of learning preferences. I believe in making learning engaging and fun, while also using real-world examples and providing direct, explicit instruction. After direct instruction, I like to ensure students have ample time to practice and review regularly.
