"Greetings! My name is Joelle and I am an experienced youth educator. I spent many years in the educational non profit word specializing in academic support through the lens of social and emotional skill development.
As a student in childhood, I struggled with feeling confident in the classroom. In my years as an educator, I have focused on empowering children by reminding them that it’s okay (and even great!) to not know the right answer immediately. I encourage kids to voice their curiosity and embrace the fact that school is a learning environment.
I have a strong background in reading, writing, vocabulary, proofreading, editing and research. I have many years of experience working with students with learning differences including autism and ADHD.
My Bachelor’s degree is from SUNY Empire State in Educational Philosophy, and I hold a Masters of Arts in Anthropology and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. I am currently pursuing my MSW at Howard University to practice as a school social worker and therapist for children and families through the incorporation of the arts and creative expression.
Feel free to reach out to me to schedule a lesson!" less...
